The Floating De-Icer will keep a stock tank completely ice-free all winter. The thermostatic control coupled with thermal feedback protects the unit from overheating, and ensures efficient operation. The stainless steel heating element is positioned above the thermostat for safey even in low-water conditions. The float is completely enclosed in a rugged, plastic housing and will not sink over time.

  • Recommended for 70-100 gallons of water.
  • Note: use in a non-metallic tank requires a metal guard to prevent fire danger (metal guard, Model 88R sold separately).

Instruction

  • Use Instructions: 1. A model 88 guard must be attached in order to prevent the heating element from coming into contact with combustible material2. The de-icer must be plugged into a circuit protected by a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter3. This product is approved for use only with LOCKNDRY extension cords. Do not use with regular extension cords.4. This unit is thermostatically controlled so that it will not turn on until the water temperature drops to around 45° F (7 C). If it is removed from the water, it will turn itself off in around 60 seconds and then cycle on and off in this manner.

This device may be obtained from any electrician or hardware store.
