Instruction

  • Assembly Instructions: 1. Remove the PFUV filter from box and check for any signs of damage2. Rinse the filter box, filter lid and accessory plumbing pieces with clean water. Dry with a soft cloth. Do not rinse any electrical components .3. Rinse the filter cartridge of carbon dust. This is done until the runoff water is clear.4. Hang the PFUV unit from the desired side of the aquarium. The electrical cords should be on the outside of the aquarium. 5. Connect the intake tube to the filter housing by placing the tube seat on top of the rotor6. Connect the strainer to the connection tube and set to the length. attach to the surface skimmer7. Insert aquatop filter cartridge8. Use the PFUV filter leveler to adjust how the unit sits against the aquarium wall (located on the bottom margin of the PFUV filter box). The filter box should be parallel to the aquarium wall. Aquatop recommends using a professional grade level to assist in this task. 9. Fill the PFUV unit with clean water and place filter box cover into place10. Connect the UV bulb power cord to its independent power source11. Plug in the PFUV filter pump and UV. sterilizer bulb. Make drip loop for each cord plugged into an electrical outlet.

Safety

  • Caution: 1. A drip loop must be used when plugging all electrical aquarium devices. A drip loop is the part of the cord hanging below the receptacle.2. A GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter) should be used in the branch circuit supplying all power to water pumps and electrical aquarium equipment. if you do not have a GFCI, we strongly recommend having a qualified electrician install one prior to operating any aquarium component. 3. Do not plug into extension cord/power strip4. Use this product for its intended use only5. Never yank or pull the cord from the electrical outlet6. Do not operate if the plug or wire is damaged7. Do not operate without water8. Verify that hands are dry prior to disconnecting the power9. To reduce the risks of electrocution, keep all connections dry10. For indoor use only11. If the product falls into water, do not reach for it. First, unplug the unit. Then retrieve the unit from the water. If any of the electrical components get wet, unplug immediately.12. Do not use soaps or detergents when cleaning this device. Thoroughly clean and rinse with warm water and make sure the device is completely dry before connecting. 13. Do not disassemble the U.V. lamp while the filter is on14. Do not look directly into the U.V. lamp when plugged in, since UV light may damage your eyesight. Always keep cover on when UV light is in use.
