- Feeding Instructions: If you are feeding Selective to your rabbits for the first time, make sure you change from one food to another, gradually over 10-14 days. At first, you should mix a small amount of Selective with your rabbits’ current food, slowly decreasing the old diet, whilst gradually increasing the quantity of Selective. A sudden change in diet can cause digestive upsets – even when you are changing to a better quality diet – so take care! If your rabbits are used to a sugary diet, you may find it takes them a while to change, but persevere as it will help to benefit your rabbits’ health in the long term. And don’t forget fresh hay and water! Your rabbits should have an unlimited supply of both at all times.Young rabbits are usually weaned from their mother's milk onto solid food when they are a few weeks old. For more information on weaning, visit www.supremepetfoods.com Young rabbits grow very quickly, reaching their adult size by around 5-6 months of age. During this growing phase, nutrients and energy are required in higher quantities relative to those required by adult rabbits. The best way to fuel this growth is to offer unlimited access to a healthy diet. This includes a high fibre food, such as Selective Junior PWS hay and of course, fresh water to drink. BECOMING AN ADULT!:When your rabbit is 20 weeks of age, start transitioning to Science Selective Adult Rabbit Food. Take at least 2 weeks to make the transition, slowly adding in the Adult feed with the Junior, while reducing the quantities of Junior. There are feeding recommendations on packs of Selective Rabbit that provide a guide as to how much an adult rabbit needs to eat. While it is not recommended that young rabbits should have their intake limited or portion controlled, it may be necessary for adult rabbits and the feeding amounts may have to be adjusted according to the pet's body condition.
