Instruction

  • Use Instructions: 1. Attach strainer (and extension tubes, if necessary) so that strainer will be no closer than 2” to aquarium gravel once the system is hanging on aquarium frame2. Hang system on aquarium frame. Be sure aquarium water is at or above the minimum water level indicated on system’s motor assembly.3. Once system is properly in place, plug filtration system into outlet being sure to arrange a drip loop with the power cord

Safety

  • Safety Warnings: 1. If the appliance shows any sign of abnormal water leakage, immediately unplug it from the power source2. Carefully examine the appliance after installation. Unplug the appliance if there is water on parts not intended to get wet3. Do not operate any appliance if it has a damaged cord or plug, or if it is malfunctioning, or if it has been dropped or damaged in any manner4. To avoid getting the appliance plug or receptacle wet, position the aquarium to the side of a wall-mounted outlet in order to prevent water from dripping onto the plug or outlet. Arrange a “drip loop” for each cord connecting an aquarium appliance to an outlet. The “drip loop” is the part of the cord below the level of the outlet (or if using an extension cord, below the level of the connector) that prevents water from traveling along the cord and coming in contact with the outlet.5. If the plug or outlet should get wet, don’t unplug the cord. Disconnect the fuse or circuit breaker that supplies power to the appliance. Once the power has been disconnected, unplug the cord and examine it for the presence of water in the outlet.6. To avoid injury, do not come in contact with moving parts or hot parts such as heaters, reflectors, lamp bulbs, etc.7. Always unplug the appliance from an outlet when it is not in use. Also unplug it before cleaning, and prior to disconnecting or attaching parts. Never yank the cord to pull the plug from the outlet. Grasp the plug and pull to disconnect.8. Do not use an appliance for anything other than its intended use. Do not use attachments that are not recommended or sold by the manufacturer; they may cause an unsafe condition.9. Do not install or store the appliance where it will be exposed to the weather or to temperatures below freezing10. Make sure the appliance is securely installed before operating it11. If an extension cord is necessary, use a cord with a rating that matches or exceeds the rating of the appliance. A cord rated for fewer amperes or watts than the appliance rating may overheat. Arrange the cord so that it will not trip anybody, and that it will not be pulled in any way.12. This appliance may have a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). As a safety feature, this plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Never use with an extension cord unless the plug can be fully inserted. Do no attempt to defeat this safety feature.
