Zoo Meds TurtleTub replicates the natural pond environment that aquatic turtles (in the wild) live in, resulting in less animal stress. Features: A built in land / water area. Large land area allows natural basking and egg laying behavior. Lightweight and easy to clean. The TurtleTub is available separately or as a complete kit. Instruction

  • Use Instructions: Placement:1. Place the Turtletub in an area out of sunlight2. If you have children under 6 years of age we highly recommend you place the Turtletub® on a table or aquarium stand (Rated for 200 pounds) to prevent a child from accidentally falling into the Turtletub®.3. Make sure your other pets, such as dogs, cats, birds, ferrets, rats, etc. DO NOT have access to your Turtletub®.Water/Filtration :1. Fill the larger side of the Turtletub® with water up to 1-2 below the top of the ramp (see front photo).2. Add Zoo Med's Reptisafe® to remove chlorine, chloramines and/or ammonia from your tap water (water side holds approximately 13 gallons).3. We recommend using a good filter such as Zoo Med's Turtleclean 511 in addition to doing a 30-40% water change once per week (very important).Land Side:1. Zoo Med recommends mixing 50% Eco Earth (loose fill) with 50% Forest Floor Bedding for the land side of your Turtletub®. You will need an 8 quart bag of each to fill the land side up to the top.2. Decorate your land side of the tub with Natural Cork Bark, Zoo Med's wooden hiding places or Mopani Wood plus live or plastic plants.Lighting:1. All aquatic turtles need special UVB lighting in order to process calcium from their diet resulting in normal shell growth. Without UVB lighting your pet turtles will develop soft-shell and a host of other health problems cutting their lifespan to maybe 1 year! (In the wild most aquatic turtles live 10-15 years or more!)2. For Proper UVB lighting we recommend using Zoo Med's PowerSun® UV Heat Lamp on your turtles. Make sure you use the PowerSun® UV with Zoo Med's Reptile Lamp Stand. DO NOT clamp a clamp lamp fixture to the Turtletub®.
